As we have seen in the previous chapter, the profession of architecture is a relatively new one. While the role of the architect has been developing constantly for hundreds of years, the profession itself has only been distinct and recognized (legally) for less than a century. However, in that time the requirements and responsibilities of the architect have become increasingly complex. In order to meet this challenge, architectural education and professional qualification have developed specifically to ensure that those who enter the profession are well prepared.
