THE EVIL GENIUS USED TO use minion-based remote control. This worked by standing a minion next to each light switch, and when the Evil Genius required the light to be turned off, he would shout an order at the minion, who would turn the light off. A number of aspects of this technology were a little unsatisfactory, however—for example, when the light went out, the minions would sometimes fall asleep. Also, the minions were liable to wander off at an inopportune moment, leaving the Evil Genius barking orders that went unanswered, with dire consequences afterward for both the hapless minion and the Evil Genius’ vocal chords.
