From string and wire to paint, pastels, and papier-mâché: mixed-media art wins over the most hesitant student. Creating art using more than one medium often comes as a relief, as well as a joy, to the maker. These labs include 2D and 3D projects ranging from paintings, collages, and stitching to sculptural projects in wire, weaving, and papier-mâché. There is something exciting and unexpected about gluing a special piece of paper to a painting to create a leaf or stitching a line on paper instead of using a crayon.
