DEMONSTRATION: Cynthia von Buhler
One way to encourage viewer interaction with one’s work is by adding kinetic accents. Unlike static pieces of assemblage, live and electronically-powered add-ons create a dynamic sensory experience. Real and moving objects captivate, engage and pique interest. The spontaneity of time, energy, light, motion and sound make for powerfully provocative storytelling. In this demonstration, multifaceted artist Cynthia von Buhler uses aging, distressing, rubber-stamping, custom constructs and a caged, live dove to illuminate the soul of her highly symbolic portrait of peace, love and tolerance.
