Abstract
This chapter addresses the articulation of two fields: intelligent energy systems and smart homes. The foundations of these fields are presented in a concise way as well as the respective state of the art. Several projects dealing with intelligent energy systems for homes and buildings and some projects approaching smart home will be described, analyzed, and discussed. This chapter proposes an innovative model for an intelligent energy-oriented home, a smart home focused on energy aspects.
