The present work is partially based on research projects carried out at the JRC-IPTS, the Institute for Prospective Technological Studies, one of the seven research institutes of the European Commission’s Joint Research Center (JRC). The mission of the JRC-IPTS is to provide customer-driven support to the EU policy-making process by developing science-based responses to policy challenges that have both a socioeconomic and a scientific/technological dimension.
