Tailor Your Ask

The more you know about people, the better you can connect. Ask people about their lives, their background, their work, and their interests. Their answers provide insight into how they think, the choices they make, the way they process information, and what matters to them.

When making requests of others, consider what communication style will work best. Watch how people respond. When you spot a strong preference for communication style, you have the ability to tailor your approach. When you understand a person’s tendency to be more logical or more relational, extroverted or introverted, you are better able to communicate and to form relationships.
