Simple and Compound Machines

Now that we have discussed the influences on machines and the principles that govern them, let's move our discussion to the different types of machines.

A machine is any mechanism that makes work easier by helping to push or pull against a resistant force. Machines can multiply the force that you apply, allowing for less input effort. Alternatively, machines change the direction of the input effort or multiply the speed or distance of the resistance movement.
