Effective training is not about innovative tools or learning content delivery methods. It is first and foremost about the work of instructional design. This chapter is provided to pique your curiosity: to spark ideas, clarify how to best craft a learning strategy, determine the best way to circumvent obstacles before they appear, and discover ways to help learners maximize learning retention. We’ll cover the steps in the ADDIE model (analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation) and offer best practices to succeed at each stage.
