Chapter 70. Stalker or Author? Who Cares? It Worked!

There's a fine line between a restraining order and being very passionate when trying to get attention. Camille McConnell wanted to get her new book, called Stop Overeating Today!, featured on the internationally popular Dr. Laura radio program as Book of the Week. There was one big problem. All attempts at contacting Dr. Laura the traditional ways weren't working. That's when Camille decided to try a different way to get attention. She wrapped up a copy of her book in a bubble envelope with a thick coating of pink sparkles (Dr. Laura's favorite color), glued sequins on the envelope in the shape of her logo, and sent it out. Guess what happened? No response. It didn't work, but Camille didn't give up. This time she sent Dr. Laura another book, this time in a bright pink envelope, with a picture of Dr. Laura she found online, along with a cartoon-like bubble coming out of her mouth saying, "this is a really good book!"

Now, at this point two things could have happened. The first could have been that the producers at the Dr. Laura show could have filed a restraining order on the "crazy lady who keeps sending weirdly wrapped and colorful packages with cut-outs of Dr. Laura on them." Or, they could have picked up the phone, called her, and booked her for the show. Fortunately, for Camille, they decided to go for the latter.
