5.4.2.5 Rebroadcast source channels

Distributed services provided by other agencies are used by both the BBC and ILR. BBC stations can rebroadcast BBC national networks, usually taken off-air, and also line-distributed news services; ILR have various commercial satellite feeds available should they wish to take advantage of them. All such services may be fed to a rebroadcast source channel on the desk which will have a simple selector switch, but none of the other facilities associated with other outside source channels. This switched input channel may be a convenient location to make other sources available: a return feed from a reverberation unit, or the output of a newsreading booth are examples.
