In 1943, psychologist Abraham Maslow presented a theory of psychological health predicated on fulfilling innate human needs in priority order, culminating in self-actualization. Maslow’s hierarchy of needs starts with the most basic: physiological – elements without which life cannot be sustained. As you climb the pyramid, you find elements that make life more secure, enjoyable, and meaningful.
To follow in these footsteps, I offer you an alternate hierarchy of needs: the hierarchy of author experience needs.
