Continue with the previous exercise’s scene file, or open the Soldier_V06.max scene file in the Scenes folder of the Soldier project from the book’s web page. Most of the smaller detail in the model will be added through textures; however, it helps tremendously to add detail, such as pouches and elbow and knee pads, into the actual geometry. This creates a better silhouette for your character. These details are further enhanced with textures in Chapter 10, “Introduction to Materials: Red Rocket.”
