8: Automata theory with recent trends
Abstract
This chapter focuses on two modern areas in computer science, which have significant thrust in the recent times. Cybersecurity is gaining popularity due to evolution of challenges in Cloud security and IoT security. Artificial intelligence and machine learning are widely deployed in applications across various domains, basically due to availability of good computing power and memory resources in cloud-based deployments and availability of large and cheap bandwidth for mobile applications. These areas are deeply rooted in the basic formalism of automata theory, which is used for formal security testing in cybersecurity applications and deployments and in model validation for AI/ML systems.
