Manage Service Applications

When people refer to service applications in the general sense, they are usually referring to all the components that make up the concept of a service application. However, there is an actual Service Application component that acts as the management interface for the associated Service Instance. The Service Application may also utilize one or more databases that are created when the Service Application is created.

Within the Central Administration site, you can see the list of current Service Applications as well as create new Service Applications by navigating to the Manage Service Applications page shown in Figure 11.3.
