5. Recording Manual Events
Automator’s most useful feature may be its ability to record what you do and then play that back as part of a workflow. This means that even if Automator actions aren’t available for a particular application, you may still be able to automate it by recording tasks and playing them back.
When you record manual tasks, Automator watches your key presses, mouse movements, and clicks, and then saves these events as an action, so you can play them back as part of the workflow in which you recorded them. So, essentially, any individual task you perform with your keyboard or mouse is considered to be an event.
