Chapter 7 Develop Models to Design Profit-Effective Availability Performance

Introduction

Chapters 5 and 6 described two requirements of the basic design phase. One established the infrastructure for the design, improvement, and management of availability performance. The other detailed the plant as a system of reliability, maintainability, and economic parameters.

The next step is to develop the models that will be used to evaluate and optimize availability performance. The plant logic diagrams determine their structure. The formulated parameters are their input. The models will ultimately reside in the life-cycle improvement, change, and data management systems.
