Chapter 9 Analysis and Optimization of Plant Availability Performance
Availability engineering in the basic design phase has so far accomplished the following in the design of a performance scheme:
- Assessed reliability and maintainability of plant items, components, and assemblies.
- Allocated reliability, maintainability, and economic parameters to plant logic diagrams.
- Determined the cause, effect, and criticality of identified failures in the plant.
- Identified the most cost-effective maintenance strategy for each significant failure.
However, these are still preliminary conclusions. They have not been tested, evaluated, and optimized as a system of availability performance. That is now the objective.
