Running cables is one of the most regular assignments of the audio technician, whether in a portable system or a fixed installation. The techniques vary according to cable length; single shielded can be used for short lengths in domestic systems, but twin shielded cable is used for longer runs, and all professional installations.
Twin shielded cabling is called for in larger domestic installations to provide satisfactory noise immunity, but the method of connection is critical to achieving this result.
