The antenna system is an important part of any radio system. Its performance will often determine how well the system as a whole can perform. The choice of the correct antenna, as well as its siting and installation, can often give improvements equivalent to raising the transmitter power many times. As a result it is necessary to invest wisely in the antenna system.
The function of the antenna is to pick up the radio electromagnetic waves and convert them into electrical signals.
