Antenna systems

The antenna system is an important part of any radio system. Its performance will often determine how well the system as a whole can perform. The choice of the correct antenna, as well as its siting and installation, can often give improvements equivalent to raising the transmitter power many times. As a result it is necessary to invest wisely in the antenna system.

The function of the antenna is to pick up the radio electromagnetic waves and convert them into electrical signals. Once they exist as electrical signals they are transferred from the antenna element itself into the receiver where they are amplified, filtered and demodulated to give the required audio output.
