7. Know Your Sensors

In this chapter, we explore the sensors that come with your Mindstorms set (see Figure 7.1), as well as LEGO-compatible sensors other companies manufacture. Sensors are super important! They’re what inform a robot about its surroundings. Being able to detect colors, objects, and movement allows the robot to interact with the environment around it. Even better, those sensors let the robot adjust its program depending on what the robot encounters. How cool is that?
