Long description

Step 1: Begin with vector Ay pointing to the right and vector B pointing up and right. Step 2: Magnitude and direction of B remains unchanged, but B is moved so that its tail is where the head of Ay is. Step 3: Place vector R from the tail of Ay to the head of B.

Another way to the view the problem: vector Ay plus vector B in space = the head of vector Ay to the tail of vector B = vector R, so R = Ay plus B.
