# 3.5 Graphs on the Graphing Calculator

In this section, we will see that a graphing calculator can display a graph quickly and easily. As we have pointed out, to use your calculator effectively, *you must know the sequence of keys* for any operation you intend to use. The manual for any particular model should be used for a detailed coverage of its features.

# EXAMPLE 1 Entering the function: window settings

To graph the function $y\hspace{0.17em}=\hspace{0.17em}2x\hspace{0.17em}+\hspace{0.17em}8\hspace{0.17em},\hspace{0.17em}$ first display ${\text{Y}}_{1}\hspace{0.17em}=\hspace{0.17em}\text{and}$ then enter the $2x\hspace{0.17em}+\hspace{0.17em}8.$ The display for this is shown in Fig. 3.28(a).
