6 Audio post-production
This section is intentionally called audio post-production, rather than ‘editing’, because the sound team do not ‘edit’ video as such. An editor, normally assisted by the director and probably with the PA, will cut the picture track and at the same time will edit the sync sound. This will then go to a member of the sound team called the ‘dubbing mixer’ who will finish off the audio track, adding the sound effects or music, altering the ambient or mixing in a little more buzz.
In reality you, along with a lot of other organizations, probably won’t have the luxury of off-line, on-line, audio-dub facilities and will make do with one edit stage where the picture and the audio are dealt with at the same time. Wherever ...
