Luisa Ignacia Roldán was Spain’s first recorded woman sculptor. She is also known as La Roldana. Her dad was a famous sculptor who taught her and her siblings how to make sculptures and paintings. They all made many works of art together in their workshop in Seville.

When Luisa was nineteen, she fell in love with another artist at her dad’s workshop. His name was Luis Antonio Navarro de los Arcos. They got married, but her dad disapproved and didn’t attend the wedding. Because of this, Luisa left her dad’s workshop and moved in with her husband’s family.
