A COMMUNITY OF ARTISTS

Jamini was born in a village called Beliatore in present-day India. When he was young, he was interested in the work of a community of artisans called Patuas. They made paintings on long pieces of paper called scroll paintings and would travel to other villages and sing songs about the stories in the paintings. Jamini liked art so much that he decided to attend art school in a large city called Kolkata.

A CHANGE IN STYLE
