AN OUTSIDER

Lygia Pimentel Lins was born in Belo Horizonte, one of the largest cities in Brazil. She described her childhood as hard and felt like an outsider in her family. Lygia was married at eighteen and moved to Rio de Janeiro. After her third child was born, she started taking art classes with modernists Roberto Burle Marx and Zélia Ferreira Salgado.
