Many people are uncomfortable talking about themselves and their achievements. They see any attempt to promote themselves as pushy and vulgar. They believe that their careers should be an apparently effortless progression; a just reward for talent and hard work.
As a blueprint for success, that leaves a lot to chance. For most people, being good at what they do is not enough – they need every advantage to climb the career ladder, including their own PR. Despite this, they still can’t bring themselves to push themselves forward.
