iOS Game Controllers were announced at the Apple Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2013 as part of iOS 7, in response to one of the chief complaints that had arisen after the launch of the iPhone in 2007 and the arrival of iPhone gaming in 2008: the lack of tactile feedback. Focusing on the screen while not being able to feel where gaming controls were proved difficult. While there have been many third-party solutions, ranging from stickers placed on the iPhone screens to Bluetooth controllers, there has not, until now, been a universal method of gaming input.
