Testing
After 30 plus years of enterprise application development, I’ve found that the actual application development process for programmers consists of three high-level tasks:
The graph in Figure 8-1 is what I consider the ideal distribution of time for those three tasks. Yes, that’s 60% of the development time spent on testing. The first response I get from most developers and project managers is, “Wow, that’s an awful lot of time for testing, isn’t it?” Not really.
