This chapter provides an introduction to the SQL language and one of two tools for working with it. Section 2.1 presents a high-level overview of the SQL language, which will give you an idea of the capabilities of this language. Then some important basic concepts of the SQL language are introduced in Section 2.2, such as constants, literals, variables, expressions, conditions, functions, operators, operands, and so on.
