When Salesforce DX was launched, it introduced multiple new tools and ways of working, which I have collectively called “concepts,” all designed to work smoothly together, including
  • Salesforce CLI

  • Visual Studio Code

  • Salesforce DX projects

  • Source format metadata

  • Scratch orgs

  • Unlocked packages

  • Second-generation managed packages (2GP)

  • Dev Hub

  • Namespaces

Although these concepts will be covered in a lot more detail in Part II of the book, I’ll introduce them now so that we have a high-level understanding of each and how they fit into the Salesforce DX landscape. Don’t worry if the introduction leaves you with more questions ...
