The application of sensor networks often precludes the use of wired sensors. Although it’s possible to use wired sensors installed in a controlled environment that supports a cable plant, you seldom have this luxury. Sometimes you can connect some parts of a sensor network to a wired network, but the sensors are located in areas where running wires is impractical.
