4.13Adventures in Lighting, Part I—Beauty Lighting
This month we’re going to take a look at some previous shoots of mine and discuss how each was lit and why. In most of these, I concentrated on incorporating “alternative” lighting sources such as Litepanels LEDs, Kino Flo fluorescent fixtures, and Barger Baglites.
The first setup I’m going to discuss is a fashion shoot. This was actually a digital still shoot, but the concepts of lighting are equal for stills or motion. I have often preached to aspiring cinematographers to use stills to hone their skills and advance their cinematography; a practice I have utilized myself over the years.
