PSYCHOANALYTIC DEVELOPMENTAL CONSIDERATIONS

The previous discussion of some of the phenomena of the vertical split as it develops in childhood in an atmosphere that seems to initiate and condone it will now be filled out with psychoanalytic ideas pertinent to this development. These ideas begin with an overview that will illustrate some of the considerations relevant to the question of how any child manages to find his or her way in the world and develop concepts of right and wrong along with values of personal significance and importance.
