The DBcursor→c_close function is the standard interface for closing a cursor, after which the cursor may no longer be used. Although cursors are implicitly closed when the database they point to is closed, it is good programming practice to explicitly close cursors. In addition, cursors may not exist outside of a transaction in transactional systems, so they must be explicitly closed.
