Just to put this in perspective, this was the social media landscape
in 2007. YouTube was present but not as pervasive as it is today; likewise,
Facebook was hardly the behemoth it is now; Twitter barely existed; most
print and broadcast news outlets were still guring out what their online
presence would be; and few if any fully online news sites like Hufngton
Post or Patch existed then. This situation presented both opportunities and
challenges to subway planners.
