Tying It All Together

There is little doubt that social media has revolutionized communications.
Over the past decade, social media has served many transportation orga-
nizations by encouraging interaction with customers. It allowed the shar-
ing of information, experiences, and opinions, as well as videos, photos,
and even locations. Social media has allowed a substantial portion of the
world’s online population to interact, collaborate, and create connections.
Almost every state department of transportation has a social media
presence, along with a multitude of transit agencies, more than 200 air-
ports around the world, and other agencies at every level of government.
