What is this practice and how effective is it?
Business analytics take “dumb” KPIs and turn them into “intelligent” analytics. While KPIs, like accounting numbers, tell managers what has happened, they are unable to tell them why it happened. Business analytics provide managers with both a high-level view of a process or the whole organization and the ability to drill down to find the reasons performance trends are moving up or down. But, as we will show, analytics takes some time to implement and even more time for people to get used to.
