The pivotal moment happened ten years ago during a focus group. As our group began leaving the room, I noticed a young woman in her twenties, one of the participants, saying “hello” to a fifty-one-year-old lady she met in the hall on her way out. As they began to chat, the years between them melted away. Both had young children, attended the same “Mommy and Me” classes, were buying mini-vans, and had stayed at the same hotel in Disneyworld.
