Abstract

Straight vegetable oils and waste oils differ from biodiesel (and conventional diesel) in some important ways and are generally not considered acceptable for large-scale or long-term use in the fueling of vehicles. There are several technical barriers to widespread use of SVO as a vehicle fuel, which can result in reduced engine life and increased operational costs over the long term.
