Applications of Electrochemistry to Redox Metalloproteins and Cofactors
Abstract
The present chapter focuses on the state of the art of electrochemical experimentation on redox biomolecules both in diffusion and immobilized on an electrode’s surface. Two main classes of molecules are considered here, namely redox metalloproteins and redox cofactors. After introducing their general properties, the approaches developed for their investigation by diffusion and surface-immobilized electrochemistry are reviewed. The remainder of the chapter introduces and develops the experimental and theoretical activities of single-molecule investigation of redox metalloproteins and derivatized redox cofactors by means of the electrochemical scanning tunneling ...
