toluidine blue (TB), a potential antitumor drug for photodynamic therapy of tumor, with
calf thymus DNA (ctDNA). The SERS experiment was based on the Raman spectroscopy
analysis of solutions prepared with TB, ctDNA, and silver colloid. Based on the intensity of
specic peaks of the spectra, it was proposed that TB could partially intercalate into DNA
with ring C

substituents blocked the insertion from the C
