Bioelectronics on Graphene
Vikas Berry
This chapter discusses the functioning of graphene-based electronic biosensors and the
inuence of graphene’s chemical and structural properties on the sensitivity and specic-
ity of these sensors.
14.1 Introduction
Since the 1990s, several studies have originated on the effect of interfacing nanomaterials
with bio-components on their properties, with the goal of detecting bio-components or bio-
logical phenomena.

Until 2004, the primary focus had been on applying zero-dimensional
(0-D) and one-dimensional (1-D) nanomaterials (semiconducting nanoparticles, silicon
nanowires), which are excellent fo
