Difference between drivers and constraints

Drivers and constraints are related in the sense that they influence the way parameters may change but they are also very different: constraints act on objects while drivers determine how IPO curves (animated parameters) change other IPO curves. And where constraints can only influence the spatial properties of an object such as its position, scale or rotation, any IPO curve may be driven by another IPO curve. This means that even material parameters, such as color or a Lamp parameter such as energy, may be driven by another IPO. There is a restriction though: the IPO curves that drive other IPO curves must currently be special properties of an object so you can drive the color of a material by the rotation ...
