Creating realistic large-scale water in Blender 2.5

Water is one of the most difficult of natural substances to simulate in any 3D design system. Blender comes with some extremely good fluid tools that can make an excellent physically based fluid simulation possible. However, unless you have an extremely powerful computer, and plenty of time, simulating large-scale water surfaces is better achieved using materials and textures.
