Method 4 – Bsurfaces

There are, of course, more advanced methods for retopology that involve a little less manual work than what we've seen so far. Earlier, we enabled the Bsurfaces add-on, which will provide us with a really cool way of doing retopology.

It works by letting us draw annotations on the surface of our high-res mesh, and when we're ready, it will generate polygons using those annotations. Let's get started:

  1. Go into Object Mode.
  2. Snap the 3D cursor to the world origin (Shift + S | Cursor to World Origin).
  3. Add a plane (Shift + A | Mesh | Plane).

This will be the object inside which the Bsurfaces add-on generates new polygons.

  1. Open the sidebar (press the N key).
  2. Switch to the Edit tab.
  3. Expand the Bsurfaces section.
