There are, of course, more advanced methods for retopology that involve a little less manual work than what we've seen so far. Earlier, we enabled the Bsurfaces add-on, which will provide us with a really cool way of doing retopology.
It works by letting us draw annotations on the surface of our high-res mesh, and when we're ready, it will generate polygons using those annotations. Let's get started:
- Go into Object Mode.
- Snap the 3D cursor to the world origin (Shift + S | Cursor to World Origin).
- Add a plane (Shift + A | Mesh | Plane).
This will be the object inside which the Bsurfaces add-on generates new polygons.
- Open the sidebar (press the N key).
- Switch to the Edit tab.
- Expand the Bsurfaces section.
