Method 2 – Manual extrusion and F2

This method is very similar to using the Poly Build tool, but with a bit more flexibility and without the pretty blue highlights:

  1. Switch to Edge Select mode by pressing the 2 key on the keyboard.
  2. Select the two adjacent edges that have the gap between them (highlighted in the following screenshot).
  3. Press the F hotkey to Fill a new face in the gap:
