Because anyone with Internet access can see your organization’s blog, you must follow both the rules of the blogosphere and the rules of law in order to avoid trouble. Although a blog might seem more casual and flexible than traditional business publications, and it should be, that doesn’t mean you can violate established rules and laws. This is particularly true for public companies that are subject to strict insider trading regulations. The best path to follow is one of caution. It’s better not to publish something you’re unsure of than it is to risk getting in trouble for something you publish on your company’s blog.
