In the early days of the blogosphere, a blogger’s community existed primarily on their website. Readers engaged with content within the comments section or interacted with each other within the threads on the blogger’s forum page. Readers might occasionally send an email, but for the most part, the term community referred to the activity happening on that blogger’s actual site.
The emergence and then explosion in popularity of social media changed everything for the blogosphere because suddenly bloggers had new platforms where they could share content and build community. Bloggers now not only create personal profiles on platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. They also create accounts and pages to help build their blog’s brand.
